If I Fail One Day
My father doesn’t say too much,
But his silence speaks of love and trust.
His eyes are tired, his smile is slow,
Yet he hides the weight I’ll never know.
He gives me all he’s ever had,
And calls himself a lucky dad.
But deep inside, I see the cost
The quiet battles, the things he’s lost.
I dream because he dares to hope,
I climb because he holds the rope.
But sometimes fear lives in my chest
What if I try and fail the test?
What if my name fades in the crowd,
No cheers, no stage, no moment proud?
What if I go before I rise,
Before I wipe the tears from his eyes?
What if I leave this world too soon,
With dreams still waiting for their tune?
And all he gave turns into pain,
His sleepless nights, all just in vain?
This fear, it breaks me piece by piece,
But in his love, I find my peace.
Even if I fall, don’t make it through,
Let him know my heart was true.
Let him feel, deep in his soul,
That I was trying to reach the goal.
That even if I couldn’t win,
His love still burned like fire within.
So if I fail one day, don’t cry
Just tell my father I did try.
And in his love, I always found
A life that mattered, safe and sound.
